The Committee’s annual State of Natural Capital reports are one of the principal means through which the Committee addresses its Terms of Reference. The first was published in April 2013; the next report will be released on 11th March 2014. The third report is expected in early 2015.

First State of Natural Capital report

The Committee’s first State of Natural Capital report was published in April 2013. It presented evidence that significant economic and wellbeing benefits can be secured through better valuation and management of natural capital. The report set out a framework for what needs to be done to ensure this happens.

Government response to the first State of Natural Capital report

The Government responded to the Committee’s first report with a joint letter from the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
